The Kunming Hash was first started in 1999 by, at the time, GM Golden Balls (Frank Prismo) this hash soon folded in 2000. The Kunming hash layed dormant for 10 years before another attempt was made at hashing by Dildo Shaggings (Jan Andersen) in 2009. Known at the time as Dry Hump H3 it only managed to last for four runs before ending again.
In 2012, so far, the most successful iteration of the hash was started back up again by H.E.I.D.E (Rogier Luijnenburg) and Roomboy (John Malins). These two serious, hardcore, around the world hashers were participating and organizing some of the well known events in the hash community some of which included the Nash Hash, Mekong Indo China Hash and Japan Hash.
Founding of the currently active kennel began in the 2018 when Sausage Sucker (Tim Taylor) and Mashin' the Pussy (James Boorman) re-founded the Kunming Spring City Hash, based out of central Kunming. Meanwhile, Naked Horse (John Ryan) founded a separate kennel in Chenggong, a newly incorporated district in the southern metropolitan area of Kunming.
In the wake of the 2021 COVID-19 epidemic and growing members, the two kennels agreed to merge, giving birth to a unified kennel, known as the Kunming-Chenggong Hash House Harriers. The kennel transitioned leadership to Lost in Translation (Aaron Russo) after Naked Horse’s departure. Under Lost in Translation’s stewardship, the kennel flourished until July 2022, when Forest Gimp (Austin Dale) assumed the role of GM with Sausage Sucker and several others continuing to contribute as an R.A. At present, the kennel meets twice a month on alternate Saturdays, typically commencing between 1-2pm.
In 2025 Forest Gimp (Austin Dale) gave the torch of GM to Assidick PHucker (Milos Vukobradovic) and continued to support as an RA.
